In Netflix’s newest original series The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, Kristen Bell stars as Anna, a heartbroken woman still working through a past tragedy by spending every day the same way: sitting with a glass of wine, staring out the window.

Most days there’s nothing exciting to take in, but that all changes when a charming new neighbor and his daughter move in across the street. Suddenly, Anna begins to see the light at the end of the tunnel… until she witnesses the gruesome murder of a woman — you guessed it — in the house across the street.

Suddenly Anna’s life is turned upside down as she searches for answers and it doesn’t take long for her to find them. In fact, the pacing of the series is incredible which begs the question: is this a series that Netflix plans to continue for several seasons, or is it perhaps a limited series designed to have a self-contained story?

Is The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window a limited series?

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is indeed being billed as a limited series by Netflix. So what exactly does this mean?

Historically, a Netflix limited series is a series that consists of 4-10 episodes and typically provides viewers with closure to the series’ central storyline within the final episode of the season. While many Netflix limited series consist of only one season, there have been instances in which Netlfix has chosen to continue the story in more unique ways.

Typically when a limited series has returned for additional seasons on Netflix, the streaming service has introduced a new storyline with either a new or returning cast.

Will there be a second season of The Woman in the House?

Although Netflix has not yet renewed the series for a second season, it appears the creative team indeed has plans to continue the series beyond one season.

Without going into too many details in avoiding any major spoilers about how the season comes to an end, the season 1 finale of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window set the stage for a second season by introducing a new mystery within the final moments of the episode.

Given the way in which the season ended, the odds of a second season being ordered by Netflix is looking quite high. Should a second season be ordered, it’s most likely the series would be built around a new mystery with a fresh batch of characters joining the series with Kristen Bell and Michael Ealy likely to be the only cast members to return for season 2.

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window season 1 is streaming now on Netflix.
