Squid Game is officially the most popular Netflix show of all time. More households watched Squid Game over its first 28 days since it was released than any other Netflix show, including Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and The Witcher. That’s great company!

Still, Netflix has not officially renewed Squid Game for season 2 yet, which is probably surprising to some people.

But, don’t get to thinking that Squid Game is actually ending! Netflix is going to renew Squid Game for season 2.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk already has plans for season 2 and mentioned that there have been discussions to make that happen, according to Variety.

Squid Game season 2 is happening, but because this show wasn’t pitched and made as a series, a writers’ room wasn’t started prior to release or immediately after. There’s a lot that goes into a show like this, and it sounds like it will be a much different process than the first season.

Prepare for a long wait for Squid Game season 2. As things stand, we’re looking at a 2023 release date for the next season.
