A new weekend is here, and it’s time to catch up on the movies on Netflix you missed. There wasn’t much, but there were some great picks.

There wasn’t much new added to Netflix this week. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t anything good to watch, but it was just a quiet week in terms of new releases.

It does mean that it wasn’t as overwhelming to pick things to watch. This weekend should be quite easy to get through everything that was released. But in case you are still limited on time and only want the best, we’ve looked at the top movies on Netflix to check out this weekend.

One of the movies isn’t out until Sunday, Sept. 14. This list is in alphabetical order, and we’ll make it very clear which movie isn’t available until Sunday.

5 must-watch movies on Netflix this weekend

7 Prisoners

The first one to make it to the list is a Brazilian movie. 7 Prisoners follows Mateus, who accepts a job in a São Paulo junkyard to help his family gain a better life. However, the 18-year-old soon realizes that there is something fishy going on.

He and a few other boys find themselves trapped in the world of human trafficking. They need to get out, but how far are these boys willing to go for their freedom?

All I Want for Christmas Is You

This movie title initially looks like it’s going to be a Christmas rom-com, but that’s not the case at all. All I Want for Christmas Is You is an animated movie that’s perfect for the whole family.

It follows a young Mariah Carey who just wants a puppy for Christmas. It’s such a cute movie that you’ll want to put on this weekend as you get into the holiday mood. If you’re not ready for Christmas movies just yet, put it in the back pocket for December.

All I Want for Christmas Is You will be available to stream on Sunday, Nov. 14.

Father Christmas Is Back

Four sisters reunited in a Yorkshire mansion for Christmas. They don’t all get along, but it’s going to be even more complicated when their father turns up. Kelsey Grammar plays James Christmas, so you know it’s going to be full of laughter.

Now that their estranged father has turned up, the four sisters need to find a way to get along to work against this man. After all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, right? At the same time, it’s all about family at Christmas. Can’t they find a way for all five of them to get along this year?

Passing

For those who want to avoid Christmas movies on Netflix right now, you’ll want to turn your attention to Passing. Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga star in this black-and-white movie set in the 1920s.

Two childhood friends reunite in New York after some time apart. Irene realizes that her friend Clare is passing as a white woman and even has a racist husband to boot! Worried about her friend, Irene introduces Clare to the Black community, which opens up a wonderful but also dangerous world for Clare.

Red Notice

Finally, it’s time for an action movie. Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds star in this international heist film.

Johnson is an Interpol agent trying to track down the world’s greatest art thief. Along the way, he runs into the world’s greatest conman. Can this Interpol agent get the people responsible for the crimes, or will they run into the wind?
