Passing arrives on Netflix on Nov. 10, and we’re counting down the days until we see this drama film on our screens. We’re almost there, and our excitement has gone through the roof!

This film is definitely one of the best Netflix movies to watch in November 2021. It just might be the best drama film of 2021.

It’s imperative you know what this movie is about before it comes out so that on the day it drops, all you’ll have to do is hit play. And, of course, we’re not going to leave you hanging! We share with you Passing‘s synopsis right below. So keep reading.

What is Passing about?

This film takes place in New York City during the Harlem Renaissance in the late1920s. It follows two mixed-race childhood friends, Irene and Clare, who happen to bump into each other in their adulthood. While Irene identifies fully as a black woman, Clare chooses to “pass” as a white woman. This seemingly beautiful reunion between old friends turns into something entirely different when their lives become intertwined.

You can check out the official synopsis below:

"Adapted from the celebrated 1929 novel of the same name by Nella Larsen, PASSING tells the story of two Black women, Irene Redfield (Tessa Thompson) and Clare Kendry (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga), who can “pass” as white but choose to live on opposite sides of the color line during the height of the Harlem Renaissance in late 1920s New York. After a chance encounter reunites the former childhood friends one summer afternoon, Irene reluctantly allows Clare into her home, where she ingratiates herself to Irene’s husband (André Holland) and family, and soon her larger social circle as well. As their lives become more deeply intertwined, Irene finds her once-steady existence upended by Clare, and PASSING becomes a riveting examination of obsession, repression and the lies people tell themselves and others to protect their carefully constructed realities."

The drama film’s cast includes a small but amazingly talented cast, such as Tessa Thompson, Ruth Negga, André Holland, Alexander Skarsgård, Bill Camp, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, and Ashley Ware Jenkins.
