Britney Spears once sang in her “My Prerogative” cover, “Everybody’s talkin’ all this stuff about me, why don’t they just let me live?” Well, they just keep talking. FX and Hulu have set a second documentary on the pop legend titled Controlling Britney Spears.

Earlier this year, The New York Times debuted the much discussed documentary Framing Britney Spears on FX and Hulu, and the doc shined a much-needed spotlight on the public scrutiny Spears underwent throughout her career as well as the personal battle for control over her autonomy.

The release of Controlling Britney Spears, which is a direct sequel to Framing Britney Spears, comes ahead of Netflix’s own announcement of its documentary on the Grammy winner, aptly titled Britney vs Spears. Both docs precede the latest court date for the pop star.

How can you check out the sequel documentary, and when is it coming out? Here’s everything you need to know about Controlling Britney Spears, including its release date and time, as well as further information about Netflix’s upcoming documentary.

Where to watch Controlling Britney Spears

As announced by TV Line, the surprise release of the sequel documentary will be on Friday, Sept. 24 at 10/9c on FX. Of course, the news of Controlling Britney Spears arrived without warning, so if you can’t make the FX premiere, the film will also be available to stream on Hulu.

Picking up where the first documentary left off, the follow-up takes place in the aftermath of Britney’s emotional testimony and the release of a previously confidential report. The new film backs up the claims with witnesses and further investigations into the conservatorship.

Britney vs Spears release date on Netflix

Controlling Britney Spears releases just days ahead of Britney vs Spears. The Netflix documentary will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 28, which is one day ahead of an important court hearing on the status of Britney’s conservatorship. Britney vs Spears will further skewer the conservatorship.

Because Britney hasn’t been directly involved in these documentaries that make such a public showing of her personal life, and she’s commented on how they make her feel, it’s important to remember to continue to respect her privacy even as multiple documentaries continue to open up her trauma to the world.
