It has to do with the fact that the pop idol was placed under the conservatorship of her father in 2008, giving him complete control of her assets. With concern growing for Britney’s autonomy and well-being, the #FreeBritney movement seeks to terminate the conservatorship.

As reported by The Guardian, a new 75-minute documentary takes a closer look at these events, as well as examining Britney’s career overall. The film, titled Framing Britney Spears, is part of a series available on Hulu called The New York Times Presents.
