Does Erin die in Midnight Mass?

Erin Greene, played by Kate Siegel, is one of the best characters in Midnight Mass. Fans loved Siegel’s character, Theo, in The Haunting of Hill House, and we know fans will fall in love with Erin in the new Netflix original series.

Did Erin die in Midnight Mass?

Following the death of her mother, Erin moves back to Crockett Island while pregnant. She takes her mom’s old teaching job at the school and lives in her childhood home.

After Riley (Zach Gilford) returns home from prison, Riley and Erin rekindle their friendship from when they were kids. Unfortunately, things start to get really weird when a new priest, Father Paul, played by Hamish Linklater, shows up on the island.

Long story short, crazy things start to happen that should not happen. After Riley dies on a small boat off the coast of the island and Erin watches it happen, she shares what happened with a few of the non-corrupted people on the island. They try to leave the island, but the fanatics have cut off all communication and all transportation to and from the island. Yikes.

At Midnight Mass for Easter, Erin and a few others refuse to drink the poison and be reborn as vampires, for lack of a better term. When everything hits the fan, Erin and the gang try to find their way off the island.

After Bev Keane (Samantha Sloyan) finds them hiding and tries to burn down the house they are hiding in, Erin, Sheriff Hassan (Rahul Kohli), and a few others make sure that none of these vampires will be able to leave the island and spread this disease to anyone on the mainland. Erin, basically, sacrifices herself to save Leeza (Annarah Cymone), Warren (Igby Rigney), and the rest of humanity.

In the chaos, Erin and the Sheriff try to burn down the new rec center where Bev has set up beds to keep all of the vampires out of the sun. If there’s nowhere for them to hide, they’ll burn up at dawn.

Right before she is about to do it, Erin is mauled by the angel while trying to save Sheriff Hassan. While the angel sucks Erin’s blood, she cuts holes in the angel’s wings to make sure the angel can’t fly away to the mainland or make it off the island.

Erin is one of the heroes of the story, and it’s her actions that save everyone.

Erin dies after getting attacked by the angel. We see her lying on the ground and having one last conversation with Riley in her head. We don’t see Erin burn up with the rest of the people who have been “saved” by the angel, but we know what happened to her in the end.
