Kate Siegel had an important role on The Haunting of Bly Manor

The Haunting of Bly Manor had many actors connected back to Hill House. There were a couple of surprises along the way, including Kate Siegel.

Siegel didn’t have a big role on the series in terms of number of episodes, but it was an important one. In the end, she appeared in two episodes officially, but the character showed up in another form: The Lady in the Lake.

Who was Kate Siegel on The Haunting of Bly Manor?

Siegel took on the role of Viola Willoughby Lloyd, the Lady of Bly. She was the elder daughter of Lord Willoughby, the Lord of Bly who died without a male heir. Due to the time period, the house had to pass onto a man, so Viola had to plan her marriage well.

We watched as Viola married, had a daughter, and died. She would become a ghost connected to the trunk that held her pretty dresses and jewelry, a trunk that would be locked until her sister opened it. When Perdita opened it instead of Viola’s daughter, Viola killed her sister.

The trunk would end up at the bottom of the lake, turning Viola into the Lady of the Lake.

The story played out in one episode

Siegel was only really needed for one episode. The story of Viola and how she became the Lady of the Lake was told throughout episode eight of The Haunting of Bly Manor.

However, we did see her one more time in the finale when Viola believed Flora was her own daughter. We also saw the Lady of the Lake in a couple of other episodes but since the face had changed and disappeared, the character didn’t need to be played by Siegel.

In the end, it was Viola who killed almost everyone. With Dani’s sacrifice in the finale, all the ghosts were able to leave Bly Manor and crossover.
