Outer Banks season 3 renewal predictions: When will Netflix announce OBX season 3?

Outer Banks is officially the Netflix show of the summer of 2021. No Netflix show has been quite as popular as the second season of the Netflix original series, which premiered on July 30, 2021.

Outer Banks has No. 1 on Netflix most of the time since the season 2 premiere. That’s pretty amazing considering it’s been more than three weeks now.

Although Outer Banks season 2 has been incredibly popular and successful, unfortunately, fans are still waiting to learn the fate of Outer Banks season 3. Will Netflix renew Outer Banks for season 3? If so, when will the Outer Banks season 3 renewal be announced? Will Netflix cancel Outer Banks after season 2?

Will there be a season 3 of Outer Banks?

Netflix has not announced Outer Banks season 3 yet. We’re still waiting for the renewal.

But, are we worried Outer Banks will be canceled after season 2? Absolutely not!

Outer Banks season 3 is going to happen. It’s only a matter of time until Netflix renews Outer Banks for season 3. This show is so popular! Netflix doesn’t cancel shows that the masses are watching.

Not only does the show have a big fanbase, but these OBX fans are passionate. Netflix knows they are going to tune in no matter what. We’ve seen that in how popular the second season was and still is.

The third thing that matters is the story! Outer Banks is so good, and the story is getting better and more interesting with each season. There’s so much more story to tell, and we need to see what’s going to happen next.

The cast and the crew and the creative team are all on board for Outer Banks season 3. With all those things going for the series, there’s pretty much no way that Netflix will cancel Outer Banks. 

When will Outer Banks be renewed for season 3?

The Outer Banks season 3 renewal should be announced soon. We have no inside information or anything like that, but we shouldn’t have to wait too long for Outer Banks season 3 to be announced.

Netflix almost always gathers data for the first four weeks after a season premieres before announcing any decisions. Even with the shows that are renewed for another season, we still have to wait at least a month after the premiere before another season is announced.

There’s a good chance we’ll see Outer Banks season 3 announced about one month after the season 2 premiere. In other words, it’ll be sometime around the last week of August and the first week of September.

For example, Never Have I Ever was just renewed for season 3 almost exactly one month after the premiere of season 2. Never Have I Ever season 2 premiered on July 15, and Netflix announced the renewal on Aug. 19.

We’re expecting something similar for Outer Banks season 3!

We did have to wait three months for Outer Banks to be renewed for season 2, so it could be a little bit longer until the renewal is announced. I’m not expecting that, though.

When is Outer Banks season 3 coming out?

It’s a little harder to predict the Outer Banks season 3 release date, considering so many things have to fall in line for it to happen. If Outer Banks season 3 is announced soon, we could definitely see Outer Banks season 3 on Netflix in the summer of 2022.

This show works so well as a summer show! Production would have to start soon-ish to make that release date happen, but right now, July 2022, or even August 2022, are very much in play for the Outer Banks season 3 release date on Netflix.

I wouldn’t expect to see Outer Banks season 3 on Netflix much earlier than July 2022. The first season premiered in April 2020, but to hit a spring premiere date, production would have to wrap by December 2021 at the latest. That seems rather unlikely at this point.

For now, prepare to see Outer Banks season 3 ordered in August or September 2021 and released in the summer of 2022.
