Does Steve die in Stranger Things season 4: Is Joe Keery leaving Stranger Things?

Stranger Things season 4 might not be coming until 2022, but the fandom is as active as ever before and eager to know what’s to come from the show’s highly anticipated fourth season.

It’s been a long drought and Netlflix has definitely been a bit stingy with its teasers this year. So it’s only understandable that when the streaming powerhouse drops any kind of new footage or piece of news, fans can’t help but speculate about what even the smallest of teases could mean.

This has indeed been the case in wake of the arrival of the newest Stranger Things season 4 teaser which offered our first look at all of our favorite characters. The all too brief teaser, dropped a lot of teases on fans in gifting them with a montage of clips featuring the likes of Eleven, Hopper,  and the rest of the gang.

While there was a lot to digest in watching the teaser, one burning question that seems to have emerged from the teaser is whether we should be concerned about the fate of Joe Keey’s character Steve, but is there actually a reason for concern?

What happens to Steve in the Stranger Things season 4 trailer?

In the newly released Stranger Things season 4 trailer, which you can check out below, we get a few glimpses of Joe Keery back in action as Steve, much to the pleasure of our Scoops Troop loving heart.

One brief scene finds Steve teaming up with Dustin, Max, Robin, Nancy and Lucas as they look on in shock and aw. Clearly, whatever they’ve stumbled upon has left them stunned and we’re absolutely wondering what exactly that could be as well as what brings this particular group together in season 4.

While that’s all fine and dandy, it’s the second shot we see of Steve that seems to have fans concerned. In a blink and you’ll miss it moment, we see Steve underwater, a flashlight in hand, in an ominous scene that has fans concerned about what’s to come for Steve in season 4.

Will Steve die in Stranger Things season 4?

Although the glimpse of Steve underwater in an extremely gloomy setting does seem to be cause for concern, at this time, it is not yet known whether Steve will die in Stranger Things season 4. Stranger Things definitely has proven it’s not afraid to kill off characters, but at this time it’s hard to predict whether Steve will die in the upcoming season.

As Steve stans, we’re definitely hoping Steve will make it out of season 4 alive and returns for future seasons, but this is Stranger Things and one never knows what dangers could be lurking around the corner or who will (and won’t) make it out of the season.

Is Joe Keery leaving Stranger Things?

At this time, there have been no reports of Joe Keery leaving Stranger Things and it’s likely we won’t know for sure whether he is leaving the show until after the fourth season arrives in 2022. What is certain is Keery will be back as Steve in season 4, so fans can rest at ease in knowing we can expect more of the fan-favorite character next season.
