Outer Banks season 2 took us on yet another wild ride with the Pogues in search of not one but two treasures! And, based on the ending, we’re not done with their story just yet. While Netflix has yet to greenlight an OBX season 3, the show has once again been garnering buzz around the internet and holding the top spot on Netflix. It’s the kind of attention that basically guarantees a renewal.

Who’s going to be a long for the ride in a possible third season? Well, the answer is going to be quite spoiler heavy, so if you haven’t finished season 2, bookmark this article for later. You’re not going to want to be spoiled for the twists and turns that the second season takes.

Spoilers ahead for Outer Banks season 2

Here’s who we expect to be in the cast for season 3.

OBX season 3 cast

All of the Pogues made it through season 2 alive though there were close calls for Sarah, JJ, and John B. As such our gang of five–Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, and Rudy Pankow–will be returning for the third season.

They’ll be joined by Carlacia Grant who plays Cleo. We met the young seafaring Bahamian in a crew of smugglers looking to make what they could off of the bounty on John B. and Sarah. When the game flipped to a play for the gold, she grew close to the pair especially Sarah who she developed an instant kinship with in their short time together.

As newly minted Pogue, Cleo is now a part of our treasure hunting group living it up on Poguelandia as they figure out what to do next. Grant joined the cast in season 2 just like Elizabeth Mitchell whose role as Limbrey ushered in quite the adventure involving the Cross of Santo Domingo and the Tanny legacy.

Mitchell will also be returning. Her season ending scene revealed a huge secret which will see Charles Halford reprising his role as Big John Routledge. The surprise “resurrection” of John B.’s dad is certain to shake up the story in OBX season 3.

Of course, the big question is when John B. will find out he’s alive, but there’s also the Camerons to contend with. Ward thought he killed his old friend, and he’s been doing his utmost to cover up that fact. Big John being alive gets him off the hook for murder, but it’s also liable to throw a wrench in his plans to run off with both the Royal Merchant gold and the legendary cross.

We expect to see Charles Esten as Ward and Drew Starkey as Rafe in the third season. Ward is injured, but he’s determined to have his whole family together even if it means dragging Sarah back into the fold kicking and screaming.

Rafe is set to do whatever he needs to do to make sure his dad has everything he needs to be happy. Considering the lengths the two of them will go to in order to get what they want, we suspect nothing will be off limits. Rose (Caroline Arapoglou) and Wheezie (Julia Antonelli) are likely to be around in some capacity as well.

As for the Kook crew left back in the Outer Banks, showrunner Jonas Pate told Variety that they do have plans to pull Topper into the fray of the third season which means Austin North will be making his return. If he’s going to be along for the ride, Kelce (Deion Smith) likely will be, too.

Lastly, we expect the Carreras (Marland Burke and Samantha Soule) and the Heywards (E. Roger Mitchell and Tonia Jackson) to make an appearance. Both Kie and Pope are the only Pogues with families to worry after them and their well being. We last left these parents stressed out over their children’s disappearance which means Sheriff Shoupe (Cullen Moss) will be on the case.
