OBX season 3 renewed or canceled: Everything you need to know about the new season

Outer Banks season 2 has sailed to the #1 spot as the most watched Netflix title on the streamer. It should come as no surprise to viewers familiar with the teen crime thriller. There’s treasure, intrigue, murder, and romance. What’s not to love? But will it be enough for Netflix to renew the series for an OBX season 3?

The second season of the show certainly doesn’t lend itself to being a series ender. The turns this season takes don’t get tied up into a nice little bow. The pay off for some of the events that unfolded can only come with a third season.

For instance, there are two treasures in this latest installment of the series. Two! Of course, that meant twice the trouble for our Pogues, the results of which still haven’t played out fully.

Is there going to be an OBX season 3?

Unfortunately, OBX has yet to be renewed. Though we’re not shook. The likelihood of Netflix canceling a top series like this one that’s drawing in viewers as well as engagement is low.

What is OBX season 3 about?

If Outer Banks is renewed, we’ll be dropping back in on the Pogues who were last left stranded on an island. Without the gold or the cross, they’ve turned to kicking it beach side as they figure out their next steps. However, they’ll likely not be left alone for long.

Kie’s parents are looking for her. Pope’s are worried about him, too. Ward won’t stop until he has Sarah back in the family. And, John B. is set to find out something life changing about his father that’ll turn his world upside down.

Not to mention the fight for the Royal Merchant gold and the Cross of Santo Domingo isn’t over by a long shot no matter how settled the Camerons are in their riches. Who will make it out alive? Who will get the treasure the third go around? We can’t wait to find out!

When is OBX season 3 coming out?

Outer Banks is a yearly title on Netflix. We’re likely to see the third season in 2022. Whether that will be in the spring or the summer is up in the air.
