Outer Banks season 2 twists

Outer Banks season 2 is finally on Netflix! I was not prepared for all of the Outer Banks season 2 twists. Nearly every episode featured something or some event that spun the story into a completely different direction.

While watching the new season of the Netflix original series, it’s really challenging to stay focused on the larger story. Every moment pulls you in, and you think this might be the end for one of the main characters. In fact, I was convinced several characters were goners in season 2!

Let’s not drag this out too much and just get into the best twists in Outer Banks season 2!

There are major spoilers for Outer Banks season 2 below!

Sarah survives in Outer Banks season 2

When Rafe (Drew Starkey) shot Sarah in Outer Banks season 2, we all knew that Sarah (Madelyn Cline) was going to make it… until we didn’t.

Sarah almost dies on the operating table after taking in too much fluid during and following the procedure to get her patched up. When she flatlines, we all thought she would eventually pull through. At least, that’s what I thought when it started. Then, it kept going on and on and on and on.

Even John B (Chase Stokes) thinks Sarah is dead, but he keeps performing CPR to save her. At literally the last second, Sarah wakes up. Not only that, she’s pretty much perfectly fine! I didn’t say it was realistic, but it was a great twist.

I love how Outer Banks season 2 plays on our expectations for how things are going to go and then flips them. It’s all about the set up, and we think this situation is going to be rather small. Sarah will get the bullet out and then they’ll sail away with the gold. Nope! She almost dies, and then gets brought back.

This is a minor twist in Outer Banks season 2. There are many much bigger twists to come!

Pope is related to Denmark Tanny in Outer Banks

When we meet Pope in season 1, we think he’s this nervous nerd (compared to the other Pogues) who just wants to get off the island. We learn how fiercely loyal Pope (Jonathan Daviss) is to his friends, but we don’t necessarily learn how invested he is in this story personally.

Obviously, season 1 is very personal to John B and Sarah. The hunt for the treasure involves both of their families, and Ward takes things to the next level when he tries to kill John B after killing John B’s dad, Big John.

For Pope, though, season 1 is all about supporting his friends and solving the mystery of the treasure.

In season 2, things could not be more different. Pope is very involved, personally, from the jump and the whole storyline with Limbrey and Denmark Tanny.

We learn that Pope is a descendent of Denmark Tanny, and that’s why Limbrey reached out to Pope. She thought he had the key to The Cross of Santo Domingo. Pope doesn’t have it, but it doesn’t take long for Pope to find it or the Cross of Santo Domingo.

This is now personal for Pope. Limbrey and Ward have taken what is his family’s property. I don’t think he’s going to let them off so easily.
