Who plays Kiara in Outer Banks?

Outer Banks, the teen crime drama that’s found quite the following since its Netflix debut April 2020, took viewers to a coastal North Carolinian town full of hidden treasure. There we met the Pogues–John B., Kiara, JJ, and Pope–whose days catching waves and soaking up the sun took a dangerous turn.

They discovered the legendary gold from the sunken Royal Merchant wasn’t a fisherman’s tale but real and worth $400 million dollars. It’s the kind of money that would make a difference in anyone’s life especially the Pogues though Kiara has quite a bit more privilege than her friends.

The lone female member of their crew actually hails from Figure Eight, the wealthy side of town. She’s got a pair of loving parents, lives comfortably, and doesn’t know what it’s like to struggle for everything you have.

Kiara, also known as Kie, however, has never fit in with the Kooks. The rich kids from her community only care about the finer things in life and keeping up with appearance. They’re constantly looking down on those who have less than them and can’t seem to quit harassing the Pogues.

It’s no wonder she’d rather hang with her boys, surfing and saving the environment. They may not fully understand her Save the Planet activism, but they embrace her for who she is not who they want her to be.

The actress who plays Kiara on Outer Banks

Kiara is played by Madison Bailey. The 22 year old actress made her debut in DC’s Constantine in a one episode stint as the character Caroline.

Since then Bailey’s had a 6-episode run as Wendy Hernandez on The CW’s Black Lightning, played the character Jules on the short-lived NBC drama A Council of Dads, and recently starred in the new AHS anthology, American Horror Stories as Kelly in the third episode “Drive In.”

Bailey will be reprising the role of Kiara in Outer Banks season 2. When we last left off with her character, she’d just learned one of her friends had died. It’s a somber place for her to start the next season, but if there’s one thing that’s true about the Pogues, it’s hard to knock them down for the count.
