Why was Daybreak canceled?

Daybreak premiered on Netflix in the fall of 2019, and I thought it was going to be the next Netflix teen hit. The apocalyptic teen comedy-drama had all the makings of something special: a great cast, hilarity, and some really heartfelt moments I did not see coming.

The series tells the story of a group of survivors of the apocalypse in a California suburb that wipes out all of the adults. The remaining teens and kids group up into different factions to survive. The factions, which are basically high school cliques, are at war with each other. Then, there’s Josh, who is just trying to find his girlfriend.

I was surprised that Netflix canceled the series in December 2019, a few months after the series premiered. But, looking back, it makes sense that Netflix canceled the show if not enough people were watching. I hate it, but it is very much in line with how Netflix does business and how the network renews and cancels shows.

Daybreak is one of my favorite Netflix shows of the last few years, so it’s a real bummer for me personally that Daybreak season 2 isn’t happening at Netflix.

If you haven’t seen Daybreak, you should definitely check out the series on Netflix!
