Why was Tuca and Bertie canceled?

Tuca and Bertie was one of the best Netflix shows of 2019. Unfortunately, the series was canceled due to low viewership on the streaming service.

The series premiered on Netflix in May 2019. Netflix announced the cancellation in the summer of 2019. Unlike many Netflix shows canceled, Tuca and Bertie is getting a second season.

A year after the show premiered, Adult Swim/Cartoon Network picked up the series for a second season. This is such a smart move. There’s definitely a market for this show, especially since it’s so similar to BoJack Horseman, which just ended on Netflix, as well, after six seasons.

I’m bummed that Tuca and Bertie was canceled at Netflix. As you’ll see on the list, there are a lot of show that end up being canceled because of low ratings and subscriber turnout. That’s not a reflection on the show or how good it is, necessarily. It just means people didn’t watch.
