Netflix has made a decision on Daybreak, and it’s not a good one. The apocalyptic dramedy has been canceled after just one season.

It is a nightmare before Christmas. Netflix has decided the post-apocalyptic dramedy, Daybreak, will not come back for a second season. And yes, I know how gutted you are because I am too.

Honestly, I believe it’s a mistake. This was one of the most diverse, unique, and hilarious shows on the streaming service. While it initially looked like the straight white guy was going to be the lead yet again, we got a show that delivered on unique characters stealing the limelight. Almost each of the main characters got a chance to narrate the story, making them all leads in a way that no show has managed to do before.

But it is going to be no more. Netflix officially made the decision last week, but it was only in the late hours of Dec. 16 that Daybreak showrunner Aron Coleite was able to share the sad news. The entire cast and crew are disappointed. That’s not a surprise considering Coleite shared that there were plans for at least a second season and more. This was a show the entire team wanted to see continue, and you saw how active the writers were on Twitter to get everyone into it.

With the cancellation, Coleite shared some sound advice. Make sure you “give ’em hell.” I’m not sure whether he means give Netflix hell or just “give ’em hell” in general, but he doesn’t want anyone to stop being themselves. Stand out as the individuals that you are.

Of course, take to Twitter and other social media platforms to share how disappointed you are in this cancellation. After all, the show had so much potential, especially with the twist that came at the very end.
