This is the first Pretzel Day that The Office hasn’t been on Netflix

Fans of The Office will always celebrate Pretzel Day as this was Stanely Hudson’s (Leslie David Baker) favorite day of the year. This year the celebration will go on, but if you are looking to stream the episode on Netflix, I will save you the trouble. It’s not there.

The Office was moved to Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, at the beginning of 2021. Fans had been streaming the series repeatedly on Netflix for many years before it was pulled. The series was streamed for more than 52 billion minutes in 2018 alone. 

In the TV series, Pretzel Day was featured in the episode “Initiation,” and it is the day that the building owners would bring in a soft pretzel guy and offer free pretzels to everyone. This day is nationally recognized on April 26, but it is unclear what date this falls on in the series. You can view the clip below.

When is Pretzel Day in The Office?

This special day, which is celebrated on April 26 every year, was most important to Stanley, but Michael (Steve Carell), ever the child, couldn’t resist a free sweet pretzel. When Phyllis (Phyliss Smith) tried to ‘cut’ in line by snuggling up to her fiance Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration (Bobby Ray Shafer), Stanley and Michael boo’d her to the end of the line. They were that passionate about the free pretzels, and although the alliance only lasted for a moment, it did happen.

When Michael orders his sweet pretzel, he is overwhelmed as there are eighteen choices of toppings, so being Michael, he gets them all. This leads to a major sugar rush where Michael gets motivated to talk about office efficiency and then ultimately experiences a sugar crash and naps at his desk.

Pretzel Day is only mentioned in one other episode titled “Tallahassee.” Erin needs to wake Stanley up for the day, and she tells him it is Pretzel Day, thinking this would spark him into action.
