What is Pacific Rim: The Black on Netflix?

Pacific Rim: The Black is an upcoming anime series arriving on Netflix on March 4, 2021, that based on the first two live-action Pacific Rim films from creators Travis Beacham and legendary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro. It would seem that the streaming service has a lot of faith in the program as the show has already been greenlit for another season.

The first entry in the franchise arrived in 2013 with Pacific Rim, where Idris Elba canceled the apocalypse, and the Jaeger squad dealt a significant blow to their alien enemies sending giant monsters to destroy earth from a gateway located at the bottom of the ocean.

The second chapter, 2018’s Pacific Rim Uprising saw Golden Globe winner John Boyega in action to stop another nefarious plot of destruction from their extraterrestrial enemies leaving the door open for more stories to be told within this fictional universe down the line.

The Netflix original series was announced back in November 2018, and in October 2020 at the virtual Anime Festival Livestream event, it was revealed that the show would arrive in 2021. Ever since then, the anticipation to see the next chapter in the Kaiju vs. Jaeger legacy has reached an all-time high. There is no denying that subscribers and fans of the property should absolutely not sleep on Pacific Rim: The Black.

What is Pacific Rim: The Black on Netflix about?

The animated series is set to premiere on March 4, 2021, for the streaming service’s subscribers to enjoy. The Netflix original follows a teenage boy and his younger sister who are looking for their parents in the giant mobile weapon notoriously known as a Jaeger.

In the show, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju Hayley, and Lola Travis will have to overcome incredible odds to survive. Quickly the two realize that monsters come in many forms, and they are in for one wild ride as they venture into The Black.

There is a stellar cast providing the characters’ voices, with the American side being handled by Gideon Adlon, Calum Worthy, Erica Lindbeck. On the Japanese side, the individuals providing vocal talents include Yui Shimodaya, Yūsuke Kobayashi, and Iku Minase.
