Will All American season 3 have a big break like Riverdale?

The CW has released its spring 2021 schedule and All American season 3 will still have episodes airing in June 2021. Should we get ready for a big break?

Let’s take a look at some facts. All American season 3 will have 16 episodes like the first two seasons. We’re already on episode 6, with episode 7 airing on Monday, March 1. We’re almost halfway through the season.

Yet, when TVLine shared the list of spring premiere dates, it was hard to miss All American season 3 having episodes in June.

We know Riverdale is going on an extended hiatus partway through the season. We’re not sure exactly when, although April is a suspected timeframe due to the premiere of Kung Fu. The show won’t return until July—yes, July!—2021. Is it possible it won’t be the only CW show going on an extended break?

There aren’t enough episodes of All American season 3

That statement there can be taken in two ways. There definitely aren’t enough episodes overall. This is one of the best shows on the network, and it’s a shame that we don’t get 22 episodes per season. However, I had hoped that by having 16 episodes, we’d see the show run smoothly from January to May or June without too many breaks—just a week here and there for May Sweeps.

That doesn’t seem possible.

Looking at The CW’s schedule, episode 8 will air on March 8. There isn’t a schedule for the week after, but it’s possible that the show could go on a hiatus from this point. It’s halfway through the season. Then the show could return in June with the remaining eight episodes.

There just aren’t enough episodes for the show to run without any breaks at all from March to June, especially June 14.

Without any breaks, that only takes us to May 3. If there are a couple of breaks here and there, we’d still only likely reach the end of May. While The CW hasn’t confirmed it yet, there has to be a hiatus coming up. Hopefully, it’s not as long as Riverdale‘s is likely to be.

What’s really disappointing with this theory is that All American won’t get new episodes during May Sweeps. The good news is season 4 is already happening, so maybe it’s not too dangerous for the future of the show.
