Netflix shows like Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel

1. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

It was produced and directed by the same man responsible for Crime Scene, Joe Berlinger.  It uses “present-day interviews, archival footage and audio recordings” that Bundy made while on Death Row to present a “searing portrait” of the notorious serial killer, according to Netflix.

2. Night Stalker

Speaking of serial killers, Richard Ramirez, who became known as the “Night Stalker,” once stayed at the Cecil Hotel. Crime Scene mentions him as part of the hotel’s dark history, but at the start of this year, Netflix also released a riveting documentary about his terror spree from 1984-85 in Los Angeles, and later in San Francisco, and the investigation that thankfully resulted in his capture. (With an assist from the community that will leave you cheering!)

3. Unsolved Mysteries

The Netflix reboot of Unsolved Mysteries differs a bit from its original roots. It still features unsolved cases, but each episode is dedicated to one case rather than multiple ones. There are two “volumes” with six episodes each so far, and the series overall is super engrossing. You really get a chance to know the victims and their friends and loved ones and you can’t help feeling invested and wanting to see these cases solved.

4. Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness

How do you describe the documentary about Joe Exotic and how he ended up in prison for allegedly trying to kill, Carole Baskin, a fellow big cat owner? It’s one of those you have to see to believe because this real-life murder-for-hire story is most definitely a case that proves life is way stranger than fiction.
