Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer is a must-watch on Netflix

Another true crime documentary has arrived on Netflix, and it’s one of the most captivating and well-told stories yet. Night Stalker is a hunt you don’t want to miss.

Netflix has changed the true crime genre with the enticing documentaries it continues to produce. The latest is Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer, a great comeback from the disappointing doc, The Ripper.

Sure, Netflix has had its fails in the genre, but they are few and far between, The Ripper being one of these few. The streaming titan has more than made up for it with Night Stalker, which follows the horrific and haunting crimes of Richard Ramirez.

Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer demands your full attention, and audiences are happy to comply. From the opening sequence, it’s clear we are in for one wild ride, but we didn’t imagine just how emotional it would be, too.

Night Stalker leaves no question unanswered

One of the things I didn’t enjoy about The Ripper, is how many details it left out and how it didn’t fully answer all our questions. There is no court footage or tapes of the Ripper aka Peter Sutcliffe, which is always my favorite part.

I imagine audiences want to “meet” who they have been chasing all this time. I know I do. Unfortunately, The Ripper doesn’t feature any of it. No jail images, no interviews, nothing. You don’t have to worry about this in Night Stalker; it satisfies in every aspect.

Even before we learn the identity of the one known in California as “the Night Stalker,” we hear his voice in several recorded audio interviews in the background, which instantly adds chills to the story.

Audiences don’t only learn about the killer’s fate but get a first-row seat to it as the footage takes us to court, giving us all a conclusion.

Additionally, the true crime documentary closes with interviews and statements from Ramirez’s survivors and the families of some of the victims. We feel good knowing they received some justice.

Not only is watching Ramirez get what he deserves rewarding in itself, but it’s such an emotionally impactful documentary that we grow to care for the victims and their families. We feel for them and are glad they got some sort of closure.
