12. Set it Up

Set It Up might be the movie that kicked off Netflix’s rom-com renaissance. It was certainly one of the first that caused the rom-com craze on the streaming service which makes it perfect for the most romantic day of the year.

The story follows Harper, an overworked assistant to Kirsten Stevens, an editor of an online sports magazine, and Charlie, an equally overworked assistant to Rick Otis, a venture capitalist.

They meet one night when they’re both trying to pick up food for their bosses and plan a strategy to make their bosses fall in love so they can have more time to themselves and actually live their lives.

It goes surprisingly well until, well, it doesn’t. They get their bosses to meet, kiss, and then officially start dating. The problem occurs when Harper and Charlie realize Rick is not being faithful to Kirsten. Do they let her continue in a relationship that they know isn’t everything it seems? Charlie doesn’t want to but Harper is not having that nonsense.

Unfortunately, when Harper goes to tell Kirsten about Rick, Kirsten fires her! Luckily, Charlie comes to his senses and tells Kirsten about Rick’s behavior which causes her to epically dumps Rick right before they are supposed to marry (don’t marry people weeks after meeting them!!)

Through this whole conflict, Charlie and Harper realize that they are in love with each other.

Set It Up stars Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Lucy Liu, Taye Diggs, Joan Smalls, Meredith Hagner, and Pete Davidson.
