One of the most eagerly anticipated new true crime series in years – Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel – premieres on Netflix tonight (Feb. 10, 2021).

The new Netflix original documentary series tells the story of the disappearance of Elisa Lam at the Cecil Hotel in 2013.

Those familiar with the story of Elisa Lam, though, already know about this creepy hotel. What they may not know is that Lam’s case isn’t the first strange tragedy to occur there.

When Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel premieres tonight, the true scope of this horror hotel will come to light.

What time is Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel on Netflix?

As soon as it’s 12:01 a.m. EST on Wednesday, Feb. 10, you can watch Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel on Netflix.

“Is there a room here that maybe somebody hasn’t died in?”

The chilling question in the trailer – regarding whether the hotel has a room someone hasn’t died in – was many people’s first introduction to the terrifying property.

When Netflix dropped the trailer for its latest true crime series, viewers were immediately hooked. Many had already seen the security camera footage preceding the disappearance of Elisa Lam in 2013. Lam was staying in the hotel when she vanished, but it was her strange behavior that caught everyone’s attention.

In the last footage of Lam alive – which we’ll see in the premiere of Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel – she’s behaving strangely on the hotel’s elevator. She presses several buttons after entering it, but the doors simply won’t close. She peeks her head out a few times and makes a few strange gestures before walking out entirely.

Once Lam exits that elevator, she’s not seen again for several weeks. At that point, her body was found in the hotel’s rooftop water tank. She still has her room key and personal belongings at the time of this discovery. And while this eerie occurrence would make the Netflix documentary series stand out on its own, this isn’t the hotel’s only claim to terrifying events.

When Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel premieres tonight, viewers will get an inside look at the terrifying history of the property.

The Horrifying History of Cecil Hotel

The Cecil Hotel has been around since 1924, so it’s no surprise that a few unsavory occurrences have taken place. What really stands out, though, is the gruesome scale of these events. Elizabeth Short – who you might know as the “Black Dahlia” – had drinks in the hotel prior to her death.

Murder victim “Pigeon Goldie” Osgood was killed in her room at the Cecil Hotel. To lend an even more folklorish status to the hotel, both Richard Ramirez and serial killer Jack Unterweger once stayed on the property. The Cecil has gained so much attention that it was even the inspiration of American Horror Story: Hotel.

The premiere of Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel may not provide the answers detectives have sought for years, but it will no doubt instill a bit of fear in its viewers. We can’t say whether evil can embody a property, but if it can, it becomes hard to deny that it found its way to Cecil Hotel long ago.
