Sometime in 2021, estimated for an April release, the brand-new fantasy series Shadow and Bone will leave a genre-loving audience in shock, awe and full-blown obsession.

Based on the book series of the same name and the overlapping novel Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone takes place in a world that has been split into two entities by a barrier of never-ending, all-encompassing darkness. In this land, strange creatures consume humans, but a young soldier named Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) discovers a special power that could, at long last, unite this darkened country. As she works to harness this power, powerfully threatening forces plot against her pursuit. Sounds a little symbolic, huh?

Shadow and Bone comes from creator and Academy Award-nominated writer Eric Heisserer, who wrote such titles as Arrival, Bird Box and Bloodshot. Featuring an excellent cast of familiar faces and newcomers and an enthralling story primed for those ready to escape to another world, this one’s a must-watch.
