15 most underrated Netflix shows of 2020

For many of us, the best part of 2020 was escaping into an entirely different world thanks to dozens of our new and old favorite Netflix shows. Who wouldn’t want to take a getaway to a remote Northern California town where romantic drama accounts for most of the excitement in its residents’ lives? But as much as we may have loved certain shows, they might not have gotten the attention and fanfare they outright deserved.

Of course, the 15 most underrated Netflix shows of 2020 includes some fan-favorite hits that have been around for a few seasons or have been renewed for another season. But that doesn’t mean shows like Virgin River, On My Block and Locke and Key couldn’t do with more love. Likewise, some series failed to make viral buzz, or were quickly canceled, despite being some of the best binges of the year.

Let’s take a closer look at the 15 most underrated Netflix shows of 2020, beginning below with the gone but not forgotten teen dramedy Teenage Bounty Hunters.

15. Teenage Bounty Hunters

Seasons: 1

Created By: Kathleen Jordan

Starring: Maddie Phillips, Anjelica Bette Fellini, Kadeem Hardison, Virginia Williams

Why It’s Underrated: If you’ve become emotionally attached to an underrated Netflix original series, there’s an unfortunately fair chance that series won’t last very long. Over the past few years, the streamer has developed a high turnover rate, leaving many fans disappointed in the short lifespans of fan-favorite shows. This year, one-and-done teen dramedy Teenage Bounty Hunters came and went in mere months despite being a definite highlight.

From executive producer Jenji Kohan, the creator of Orange Is the New Black, Teenage Bounty Hunters follows fraternal twins Sterling (Maddie Phillips) and Blair Wesley (Anjelica Bette Fellini) as they get into the bounty hunting game with Bowser Simmons (Kadeem Hardison). The series earned positive reviews from critics, holding a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but failed to drum up a sizable audience. Without proper marketing and giving viewers time to find the series, Teenage Bounty Hunters quickly became one of 2020’s most underrated Netflix shows.
