Netflix shows canceled in 2020: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Sadly, the cancellation of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance didn’t shock the filmmakers as much as it did the fans. Combining the signature Jim Henson-brand puppetry with modern visual effects, the fantasy prequel series to the 1982 film The Dark Crystal, Age of Resistance was truly childhood brought to life, exploring the world of Thra with Gelflings Rian, Brea, and Deet.

In the Netflix show’s first and only season, the Gelflings inspire a rebellion with their fellow clans after discovering a horrifying secret behind their traditionally worshipped rulers, the Skeksis. With their entire planet under threat, Rian, Brea and Deet race against time to journey on a quest to seek help from those willing to fight.

The series premiered in August of 2019 and recently received an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program. Unfortunately, a long-time affection and loyal Dark Crystal fan-base wasn’t enough to keep the ambitious production out of the danger zone and off the list of good Netflix shows canceled in 2020.
