Based on the young adult novel of the same name by Jennifer Niven, All the Bright Places stars Elle Fanning and Justice Smith as Violet Markey and Theodore Finch, two teens who go to the same high school in Indiana. Both Violet and Finch are still reeling from events that occurred in their respective pasts. As the two get closer while working on a project together, they find commonalities and kinship as they fall for each other. However, Finch becomes pushed to show off a side of himself that ultimately leads to the reopening of old wounds.

All the Bright Places debuted on Netflix in February 2020 and was an instant hit with fans of the book and fans of coming-of-age films. The movie holds a mostly positive rating of 66% on Rotten Tomatoes, with most critics praising the performances of Fanning and Smith. By and long, Netflix has most recently revealed a sweet spot for teen movies, and All the Bright Places is nothing short of a bright addition to the streamer’s growing canon of earnest teen dramedies. For a good, old-fashioned tug on the heartstrings, this one’s a must-watch movie.
