Supernatural season 15 will air its final episodes in October and November 2020

We’re saying goodbye to Supernatural after 15 long and brilliant years. The date has been set for the beginning of the end.

TVLine reports that the 15th and final season will resume on The CW on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020. This is about the normal start for the fall season, and other shows that are getting a fall slot will premiere around the same time.

But our focus is on the Winchester brothers, who will say their final goodbye.

Bringing the remaining episodes

Supernatural season 15 premiered last fall and aired 13 out of its 20 episodes by March 2020. Due to the coronavirus, filming stopped with just two episodes to go. With post-production work still to happen on previously filmed episodes, The CW opted to hold the remaining episodes for when episodes 19 and 20 would be able to air.

Filming is starting up extremely soon in Vancouver. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, along with others, are already in Canada going through the 14-day quarantine period. This is mandatory for all visiting Canada unless exemptions are granted (usually for healthcare workers and those offering essential services).

The final two episodes will take about a month to finish, and Ackles shared that episode 19 would feel like a season finale while the finale would feel like a series finale. I’m not sure how to take that!

Running through to November’s series finale

As well as announcing the Supernatural season 15 return date, TVLine also shared the finale date. Expect the series finale to air on Nov. 19.

We’re getting a real goodbye. Like The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Arrow, there’s going to be a retrospective special. It’s only fitting that The CW’s longest-running series (the only one left from when The WB and UPN merged) gets a big goodbye.

The good news for Padalecki (and The CW) is that Walker will be able to film straight after so the January premiere date looks good. Ackles will fly over to Toronto at some point to film The Boys season 3, but it’s unclear when that will happen right now.
