Your first look at the noir episode of Lucifer season 5 is here! Netflix shared seven new images from the episode, and you can check them out below!

After being so tight-lipped about Lucifer season 5, the showrunners have revealed some new information about the season’s fourth episode titled, “It Never Ends Well for the Chicken.”

The special noir episode will take us back in time to the 1940s when Lucifer visited Los Angeles. We’re also getting some of Maze’s backstory to learn more about her past.

Could this have anything to do with what Tom Ellis teased a few months ago? He said the story of the episode “answers the question a lot of fans have been asking actually.”

And it’s not just going to be Lucifer and Maze decked out in their 40s garb! We’ll be seeing some of our other favorite characters too, and we don’t have to wait until Aug. 21 for a peek.

Entertainment Weekly dropped some new photos including our favorite sharp-looking duo Lucifer and Chloe, a beautifully elegant Maze (love the hair!), and even Ella in a mustache!

What is the noir episode in Lucifer season 5 about? 

Not only are there some new photos for us to gaze at, but we also have some more information on what the episode is about. EW reports the episode will play out The Princess Bride style!

As mentioned, we’re going back to the ’40s with Lucifer and company. But, as it turns out, Lucifer will be retelling the story of what happened when he visited LA years ago, recounting it to none other than Trixie!

Co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich told EW:

"There was a moment in our arc where Lucifer needed to give us a little backstory on a character and tell us what happened to [him] a long time ago and we thought, ‘perfect moment for a Princess Bride moment. So, let’s open it up and have Lucifer tell this story to someone. And if we’re really doing a homage to Princess Bride, that person should be Trixie."

You might be wondering why Ella and Chloe are dressed in suits. Trixie asks Lucifer why the detective has to be a man and since Lucifer is telling the story, he replaces the actual “hard-boiled detective” that he encountered with Chloe and other characters with Dan, Ella, and so on, according to the report. Apparently, Dan’s character is” just extra douchey.” I kind of missed Detective Douche.

Co-showrunner Joe Henderson told EW:

"The fun of it is, who Lucifer chooses to be who and what that says about how he sees them [It’s] also super fun getting to see actors play wildly different roles than we’re accustomed to seeing them."

Another fun element – in a way we’ll be seeing Lucifer’s first case. Noir is all about crimes. Though he isn’t working with the LAPD yet in the 1940’s, it seems like Lucifer gets roped into a case.

I’m also really happy we’re getting a closer look at Maze’s story. I’ve been waiting so long to learn more about our favorite feisty demon. And how lucky are we? She’ll be serenading us with not one, but two numbers! Entertainment Weekly shared she’ll be singing alongside Lucifer for one of them!

Will Lucifer make it back in episode 4? 

All of this news is so exciting, I can’t wait to see this episode! I also realized something that had me jumping out of my seat.

So Lucifer is telling Trixie this story. Does this mean our beloved devil finds his way back to Earth as soon as episode 4!?

I mean, that’s literally what the showrunners said. He’s retelling a tale of his past to Trixie! How could he do that if he’s in Hell? Unless Trixie ends up down there, which is not something I even want to think about.

It’s much better to believe Lucifer’s reunited with his loved ones by at least the fourth episode. How exciting is this!? Just pray to the devil this is true, guys. We might not have to wait for the highly anticipated Deckerstar reunion as long as we initially thought! Ok, I have to go calm down now.
