2. Nailed It!

Number of Seasons: 4

What It’s About: Nailed It! is a real show about everyday people who try to recreate recipes they find on the internet. It’s not a spoof of baking shows, per se, but it does offer quite the send-up of them as the contestants often miss the mark and end up with some catastrophic -but creative-final products.

Nailed It! is one of many Netflix original cooking shows that follows a format used in other countries. Some of the other versions include Nailed It! Mexico, France and Spain.

Though many viewers would like to think of themselves as worthy of being under the tent in the Great British Bake Off, the reality is that Nailed It! is more our speed.

Why It Could Be Cancelled: Nailed It! films in Los Angeles, which has been a hotbed for COVID-19 cases. Though there is every reason to expect things to improve, Nailed It! presents a challenge for Netflix because there is no way to keep contestants and hosts from coming into contact with each other, and there is food being made – and consumed – and this would be a violation of LA County’s safety protocols. And you can’t do a Zoom cooking show. (At least not a judged one, anyway)

If Netflix wants to keep moving forward with Nailed It!, given the popularity of cooking shows, then it might end up putting season 5 on ice for a while until accommodations can be made. There would almost have to be a complete change in format for the show to continue, and Netflix will need to decide whether it is worth the effort or not.
