What It’s About: With an all-star cast and Chuck Lorre at the helm, it’s no wonder that The Kominsky Method has been a critical darling, receiving numerous award nominations and several wins. In fact, in 2018 the show won a Golden Globe for Best Television Series-Musical or Comedy. Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin received several acting nominations, with Douglas coming away with a Golden Globe win for Best Actor-Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2018.

The show follows Sandy Kominsky (Douglas) who was once a successful actor and is now an even more successful acting coach. His agent, Arkin’s Norman Newlander, is a close friend and confidant and together they see each other through life’s many ups and downs.

Why It Could Be Cancelled: Everything Chuck Lorre touches seems to turn to gold, so it seems like a renewal would be an easy decision for Netflix. However, ensuring the safety of Arkin and Douglas would have to be worked out, as both actors are in the age range where they would be the most susceptible to the virus.

If The Kominsky Method cannot film safely, it could be shelved indefinitely. In the age of COVID-19, this is a real concern for many shows.
