5 reasons Netflix should start making Halloween specials
Netflix should really invest in making Halloween specials out for many of their original shows, like Stranger Things. We’d all tune in!
It’s October, and with it comes fall, temperatures dropping, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, and of course, Halloween. And Halloween is always at the top of people’s favorite holiday, if for no other reason than candy.
We all love candy. In fact, we probably love it more than we should.
But we also love dressing up, and we love re-watching our old spooky favorites on TV, as well as finding new things to be obsessed about. After all, candy and colder temperatures means we want to spend more time on the couch, and we need a reason to do so.
Netflix is always one of our go-to’s when it comes to binge-watching, and though the streaming giant already offers some wonderful re-watching possibilities, we think this would be a perfect time for them to start doing Halloween specials as well!
Why not? They’ve already done holidays specials, most notably for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, as well as shows like Nailed It! and The Great British Baking Show. Halloween is the next big holiday, and can you imagine how much fun people like Sabrina and company would have during Halloween?
So, today, we’re talking about our top five reasons why Netflix should absolutely consider doing some Halloween related-specials, not just for shows that lean a bit on the spooky side, but even for shows that don’t. It’s all about new experiences, after all!
The specials they’ve done have been a hit
There’s something about holidays – and Halloween counts as one – that just makes you want to curl up, consume an unhealthy number of calories, and just watch something entertaining with your favorite people. Sure, there’s trick or treating, or Halloween parties, but sometimes you just want to chill and eat candy.
Besides, we all watched the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina special, and it kept the show on everyone’s mind for almost an entire year, so Netflix would be winning if just because of that. Big Mouth did a Valentine’s Day special. There’s room for more specials on Netflix.

Everyone wants more of their favorite shows
Look, when you love a show, you want more of it. Whatever number of episodes they’re giving us, it’s usually not enough. More is not always better when it comes to storytelling, we understand that, but as fans, we just want more.
Here’s Netflix’s chance to give us more, without forcing show-runners to go off-script. Just do specials! And hey, it would even be a chance to bring in fun guest-stars, or maybe even do some cross-overs. Why not?
It’s a chance to tell standalone stories
We might love a show, and we might be invested, but you know why so many people consume fan-fiction? Because every once in a while, we just want a stand-alone story with our favorites, one that has absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the show.
Can you think of a better way to do that than Halloween specials?
Tons of spooky content, right in season
I, for one, would love to figure out what my favorite characters would choose to dress up as. Do they believe in the supernatural? Would they be the ones to prank their friends? How would they react to seeing a ghost?
Specials would bring so many opportunities to incorporate Halloween themes while making the characters we already know and love grow a little bit.
It’s fun!
Finally, I’m here. I’ll admit it. I mostly want this because it would be super fun. The costumes, the candy, the atmosphere, there’s something inherently fun about Halloween, and as a good fan, I’d like to share that with my favorite characters.
Wouldn’t you?
