When is Batwoman starring Ruby Rose coming to Netflix? Unfortunately, the new CW series is heading to HBO Max and will not be available to stream on Netflix.
Batwoman starring Ruby Rose, formerly of Orange is the New Black, premiered on The CW on Sunday, Oct. 6. Because most CW shows are available to stream on Netflix, there’s probably a lot of fans wondering when the new series will be available to stream.
Unfortunately, Batwoman is not coming to Netflix, and it’s the first CW series in a long time that will not be available on the streaming service.
The reason you can’t watch Batwoman on Netflix is fairly simple. The CW and Netflix had a deal in place that brought new seasons of all of The CW’s current and new shows to Netflix eight days after their respective season finales. Well, that contract ended this spring, according to Deadline, and The CW decided that it did not want Netflix to carry their new shows anymore.
Had Batwoman premiered a few years ago, or even last year, it would be coming to Netflix. Instead, the show will not be available to stream on Netflix.
So, if you can’t stream Batwoman on Netflix, where can you stream The CW’s new show? Well, conventional wisdom would tell you Hulu or Amazon Prime Video. Both those guesses would, in fact, be wrong, too.
Batwoman will be available to stream on The CW App throughout the first season. We don’t know if they will carry all the episodes or if they will just allow you to watch the previous five episodes. I’m guessing they will make the previous five episodes available, but they could keep the full season for new fans to start at any time.

According to Deadline, Batwoman will then make its way to the new WarnerMedia streaming service, HBO Max, after the first season ends and the streaming service officially launches. CNET is reporting the streaming service will likely launch on Netflix in April 2020.
I guess there’s a chance something will change in the future, but for now, don’t expect to watch this series on Netflix.
I understand why this is happening WarnerMedia, which owns Warner Bros. TV, which produces Batwoman, is starting their own streaming service. It’s important for them to control their own content as the streaming wars heat up.
I think it’s a missed opportunity, though. Netflix would help Batwoman so much. There’s going to be a lot of subscribers for HBO Max but not nearly as many as Netflix has. Batwoman would definitely be helped by a Netflix boost, just like Riverdale and the other CW shows have been.
It’ll be interesting to see how this show goes considering this and its absence on Netflix. Stay tuned!
