On the latest Fear The Walking Dead, Dwight broached an interesting subject with Morgan and it hinted at a possible war heading their way. Are they on course for a battle identical to The Walking Dead’s All Out War event?

Fans who’ve been following along with the latest episodes of Fear The Walking Dead know that Morgan (Lennie James) has been avoiding direct confrontation with Logan (Matt Frewer) and his band of raiders. Morgan’s crew avoided detection while crossing through overlapping territories but they’re approaching a fight they can’t walk away from.

The reason we know Morgan and the others can’t run for much longer is that promotional material for Season 5B has shown him and Logan face-to-face with each other. A promo for “You’re Still Here” also provides us with a glimpse at Morgan holding his staff up to Logan’s throat. The details surrounding this scene are unclear but odds are Logan won’t be brought down in the following episode.

What’s more important is how a war is being set up. No one wants to put their lives on the line and the entire crew working alongside Morgan agrees with his decision to avoid fighting Logan. Keep in mind that they’re not lying down for anyone either. And while they’re at this middle ground of sorts, it will only last for so much longer.

Evidence to suggest a major fight is on the way came directly from Dwight (Austin Amelio) in “210 Words Per Minute”. He and Morgan wound up having an intense discussion about how to proceed with the Logan problem wherein their conflicting ideas are broached. Morgan persists with the idea that he’ll find an alternative to starting a war but Dwight reminds him that not all fights can be avoided.

Dwight says all of this as an allusion to what transpired between the Alexandrians and Negan’s Saviors in Season 8 of The Walking Dead. In that conflict, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) avoided fighting the Saviors until the situation became dire for everyone involved. Dwight knows the same will happen with the Fear crew so he’s trying to get them past this hesitant point. But for his efforts to mean anything, Morgan needs to realize that not everyone can be reasoned with.

To be perfectly honest, Morgan should know by now that he can’t help everyone. The Walking Dead alum was correct in sparing Owen the Wolf (Benedict Samuel) since he sacrificed himself to save Denise (Merritt Wever) but people like Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Gavin (Jayson Warner Smith) are the exceptions. They’re both responsible for the deaths of several characters and would’ve continued to place more people in danger had they not been stopped — Logan is just like them.

The question, however, remains: When will Morgan see there’s no avoiding this fight? He can try to evade them for as long as possible and give Logan the runaround but they’ll eventually raise arms against one another. Our concern is with the potential casualties that’ll happen during said fight.
