It is a sad day for The OA fans! Netflix has decided to cancel the fantasy mystery show after only two seasons. Here are all the details.

The OA fans, it’s time to perform your movements, open your portals, and go to another dimension. In this one, Netflix has cancelled The OA after only two seasons, according to a report from Deadline.

With the cliffhanger at the end of season 2 of the Netflix original series, this news could not be worse. Time to start writing up your fan fiction for how you think the show would have turned out if it was given another season to wrap up the storylines.

The OA starred Brit Marling, Emory Cohen, Patrick Gibson, Jason Isaacs, Ian Alexander, Phyllis Smith, Brandon Perea, and Will Brill.

The series followed Prairie Johnson, a blind girl who was kidnapped by an evil scientist named Hap who experimented on people who had near death experiences. But Prairie isn’t the only one Hap has abducted. There is a whole group in his basement who he experiments on.

While trying to figure out a way out, the group comes up with a series of movements they think will transport them to another dimension. But before that can happen, they need to get out of the basement.

More from Netflix Originals

Prairie is the one to escape and makes it back to her adoptive parents in Michigan. But she is not the girl who left them. She was blind the last time they saw her and that is not the case anymore. She also prefers to be called “OA.”

Trying to assimilate back into a life she hasn’t known for years, she gathers a group of kids and their teacher to tell her story to. She also teaches them the movements which ends up saving their lives.

And that’s only the first season.

The second season explored another dimension where Prairie grew up rich in Russia as Nina Azarova. But Prairie doesn’t just have Nina’s memories; she has the ones from the other dimension. Now she must get the people she loves to remember her and to try to figure out a way back to the kids.

The OA is like no other show on television or on a streaming service. It was inspiring, thrilling, intriguing, and even at times confusing, but it told a story the audience could relate to despite it’s sci-fi/fantasy plot. While Netflix might think it’s making a good decision to its bottom line, it’s a real bummer that this show is ending.
