Renewed: The Society

Renewed for season 2

What it’s about: The Society is based on the novel Lord of the Flies. Busloads of teenagers are returned home after initially venturing on a school trip, but there’s something immediately wrong. None of their parents are there to pick them up.

It soon goes from bad to worse. This is a town with absolutely no adults at all. At first, the teens wonder if their families have been evacuated due to the smell issues they’d had the days before, but then they realize that they’re in their town but not their town. They’re in an alternate universe.

Now the teens don’t just have to figure out how to temporarily survive without their parents. They need to create a whole society that could see them all through potentially their whole lives. Tensions rise, everyone has different views, and everyone is understandably scared.

The second season will hopefully answer many of the questions that arose from the first season. We never did find out exactly what happened to the teens, but it looks like they may have been sent off on an experiment that was linked to the smell. Will the teens find their way back or are they doomed with the society that they’re now creating?

When will season 2 premiere: Netflix hasn’t announced an arrival date for the newest season just yet. In the short video that announced production had started, it ended with “coming in 2020.” Based on the fact that production has just started and it usually takes a year for everything to finish, we could expect The Society season 2 sometime in spring or summer 2020. Hopefully, it will be the latter!
