The director behind Creep, Creep 2 and the new film Corporate Animals, Patrick Brice, will be directing There’s Someone Inside Your House for Netflix.

Deadline has reported that Patrick Brice has been chosen to direct the upcoming horror film There’s Someone Inside Your House for Netflix. The film is based on the The New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Stephanie Perkins.

According to the report, the film is set to begin filming this fall as Brice wraps up work on some of his upcoming projects such as the horror comedy Corporate Animals starring Ed Helms. Described as a mix of an 80s slasher and a coming-of-age film from the same time à la John Hughes, it looks like There’s Someone Inside Your House will be an homage to the horror boom of the 1980s while still possibly keeping a lighter or more tongue in cheek tone.

Other than Brice, whose resume, especially the critically beloved Creep films, has earned him a favored spot within the horror genre, the film looks to feature a bevy of talent behind the scenes. The adaptation was penned by Shazam! screenwriter Henry Gayden and is being co-produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and James Wan’s Atomic Monster Productions.

More from Horror

21 Laps is the production company behind both Stranger Things and the upcoming Unsolved Mysteries reboot for Netflix meaning they already have a successful relationship in bringing quality content to the streaming service. Meanwhile, James Wan’s Atomic Monster Productions is responsible for giving audiences so many nightmares with the Conjuring universe films as well as the upcoming The Curse of La Llorona. The involvement of these two mega-companies is sure to excite any fan of Netflix original content or horror films in general.

The Stephanie Perkins novel follows a teenager girl, Makani Young, who arrives at a new high school in a new state just in time to see the students at her new school begin to die off one by one in a series of gruesome murders that soon brings the terror too close to home for Young. This certainly does sound like the mix of 80s slasher and John Hughes that is described above, so it seems that the film may closely follow its source material. In that case, picking up the novel might be a good place to start if the idea of the film interests you.
