5 Netflix Originals to watch if you love The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries isn’t leaving Netflix U.S. yet, but that doesn’t mean you’re not getting ready. What will you watch if the show does leave? Here are five Netflix Originals you’ll want to check out.

Many The Vampire Diaries understandably panicked this week. Netflix Australia and New Zealand announced the show would leave the streaming service in March and U.S. fans weren’t sure if that included their Netflix too. While the show definitely isn’t leaving yet, many are now preparing just in case it does happen.

Netflix is at the mercy of licensing agreements with shows like The Vampire Diaries. Unlike Netflix Originals, the shows aren’t owned by Netflix and eventually, they do exit from the service. While at times the streaming service is willing to pay $100m for a year’s non-exclusive license, that isn’t always going to be the case. Plus, not all production studios that own the rights are going to willing to offer the license.

With The Vampire Diaries at the mercy of Warner Bros. Studios, there is the thought that the show will leave Netflix eventually. The CW/Netflix agreement is coming to an end this year and WarnerMedia will look at moving the show across to its own upcoming streaming service like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and some other CW shows.

That means you’re going to need to find something else on Netflix to watch. The great news is there are plenty of Netflix Originals that won’t leave that you could tune into that offer something similar to The Vampire Diaries. Here are five shows you should watch if you love the vampire love story.
