Riverdale, Arrow, Supernatural and all of The CW shows on Netflix might be leaving and moving to WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service.

Riverdale, Arrow and all The CW shows are in danger of leaving Netflix, according to a report from TV Line. TNT and TBS President Kevin Reilly made comments about The CW shows and Friends during a presentation about WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service at TCA 2019.

Friends is almost surely leaving Netflix in 2020, after Netflix’s $100 million deal for the show expires. It looks like The CW shows might be leaving Netflix and moving to WarnerMedia’s streaming service in the future.

According to TV Line, Reilly said, “we’re very interested in putting that on our platform,” regarding The CW shows. For those who don’t know, WarnerMedia owns Warner Bros. TV, which is the distributor of Riverdale, Arrow, The Flash, and more CW shows. Warner also owns The CW, and they are all part of AT&T’s umbrella.

Netflix and The CW have not confirmed this possibility, but they likely won’t comment until it all shakes out this spring. For Warner, there’s no reason to keep their shows on Netflix if they really believe their own streaming service will be successful. Why give your content to competition to use?

We’re in the middle of a content war, and it’s looking like Netflix might suffer a little bit in the immediate future if The CW shows do leave the streaming service.

We don’t know a lot of the details about this deal between Netflix and The CW. Because of that, it’s hard to make a prediction about what will happen. If the deal is really expiring, new titles would likely stop coming to Netflix immediately. For established shows, like Riverdale, The Flash, etc., they might stay on Netflix for a little longer. We just don’t know right now.

As mentioned, very little information is available at the time of publishing. A much clearer picture will likely present itself this spring when Netflix and The CW try to figure out their deal and negotiations start taking place.

If you’re keeping track at home, it sure feels like Netflix is losing a lot of good content with Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar movies leaving, along with, most likely, Friends and, maybe, The CW shows.

Yikes.

We’ll let you know more about The CW shows possibly leaving Netflix when we find out. Stay tuned!
