9. The stuffed body

This was weird for a hundred different reasons. First, it was sad that Mike and his friends witness the moment that “Will” was pulled out of the quarry and pronounced dead. It was traumatic for them and resulted in Mike yelling at Eleven and even a funeral.

But soon, Hopper notices that something’s not quite right. To investigate, he breaks into the coroner’s office, looks down at Will’s body and then has to decide: ‘Am I going to perform this autopsy myself?’ Imagine if that really was Will’s body. Hopper could’ve desecrated the remnants of a poor, dead child by cutting into him with no reason. Thanks to only the feeling in his gut, Hopper discovers that Will’s body is stuffed with fuzz instead of real organs.

Taking this one step farther, this means that Dr. Brenner and his goons were able to duplicate the body almost to a T. But how did they know exactly what Will Byers looked like? How did they make something look so lifelike? It was some serious X-Files type stuff. And just a really strange thing to consider that someone sat there and formed a little boy out of rubber and tried to pass it off as a child.

Apologies to all taxidermists, but even they need the real subject to pull that off.
