XO, Kitty season 4 looking unlikely as star gives concerning update on Netflix hit's future

XO, Kitty fans might not be getting a final chapter to Netflix’s beloved teen comedy after all. While initial reports suggested that Netflix was looking to wrap up the show, new comments from one of the show’s core cast members seem to suggest those plans might have fallen through.

To recap, back in July, word broke that Paramount Television Studios had extended the cast’s options to provide Netflix with additional time to determine the show’s future, with the hope being to bring the show to a natural conclusion via a final chapter. While Netflix was exploring a fourth season, creator Jenny Han was rumored to be pushing for a wrap-up movie in the same vein as the one used to wrap Heartstopper’s run. All signs pointed towards everyone involved behind the scenes working to make a final chapter happen in some manner, but then months passed without any formal update about the show’s status.

Now, actor Anthony Keyvan is stirring the pot with a string of responses on his latest TikTok video that suggest XO, Kitty won’t be returning and has been quietly canceled by Netflix.

When asked where the next season is by one fan, Keyvan remarked, "Gonna hold your hand when I say this…" a comment that seemed to suggest there isn’t good news. It wasn’t just a one-off comment from Keyvan either.

Several fans took the chance to drop questions about the show’s future in the comments of Keyvan’s TikTok video, and many fans got similarly concerning replies in the form of reaction memes. For example, when one fan replied, “You better convince Jenny Han to make another season,” Keyvan hit them with a sticker of Kanye West shaking his head “no.”

If there was any misconception about what Keyvan’s comments meant, he made it clear he wasn’t giving any false hope. "What are you talking about my love?" Keyvan commented when confronted about giving false hope for another season.

Interestingly, some fans have also noticed that lead actress Anna Cathcart has removed all mention of the show from her Instagram bio. Adding her removal of the show from her bio with Keyvan’s wave of comments on TikTok, it’s not looking good for XO, Kitty season 4.

We’ll see if Netflix chooses to release a formal statement about the show’s status, but fans might want to begin coming to terms with the fact that we likely aren’t getting closure for the series in the form of a final season or wrap-up movie, which would be a true shame. It was clear that the show was coming to a natural conclusion, and it's hard to imagine not getting the chance to see Kitty's story get a proper ending.

Maybe Netflix will surprise us in the end, but for now it's looking like our time at KISS Academy has ended without any closure or a chance to say goodbye to Kitty and her friends.
