Are you ready to be changed for good all over again? As we rapidly near the one-year anniversary of Wicked: For Good this fall, the iconic sequel film is making some rather big streaming moves this summer. For the first time, certain fans who managed to miss the blockbuster in theaters and its first run on Peacock will have the chance to watch the movie on Netflix.

Following the release of Wicked: For Good, the movie made its streaming debut on Peacock. As a movie produced and distributed by Universal, it was no surprise that the movie would begin its streaming run on the company's very own streamer. However, thanks to a new deal between Universal and Netflix, the sequel will have a second run on a new streamer.

Wicked: For Good coming to Netflix in July 2026

When Netflix unveiled the full lineup of new release movies and shows coming in July 2026, the inclusion of Wicked: For Good might have come as quite the surprise to fans. The movie makes its debut on Netflix on Monday, July 20, 2026, the perfect selection for a summer movie night to kick off a new week. There's no doubt it will find popularity on Netflix, but there's a downside.

Unfortunately, the first Wicked movie will not be joining its sequel on Netflix. Unless something changes within the next month, Netflix isn't expected to stream Wicked alongside Wicked: For Good. Because Netflix's deal with Universal began after the first movie's release, it falls outside the terms of the streaming deal and isn't automatically included in the titles headed to the streamer.

That's frustrating for viewers who might not have seen either movie and would have had the opportunity to watch both on Netflix. There are definitely some people out there who didn't see the movies in theaters and didn't watch them on Peacock. Netflix would be their first chance to check them out, but without both movies available, they're only provided half of the story.

It's also frustrating for existing fans who are now prevented from having the chance to have a double feature movie night on Netflix. Over the years, we have seen Netflix add movie sequels without the preceding movies, which also feels like an oversight. Hopefully, Netflix and Universal can somehow come to some kind of deal to make both Wicked movies available for fans at some point.

While Netflix's deal to become the second-window streaming service to Universal's live-action films in 2027, the deal started early with titles beginning to drop throughout 2026. How to Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World: Rebirth, Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie, Bugonia, and others have already dropped on Netflix, and Hamnet is another set to be added in July.
