When Wednesday Season 1 hit Netflix screens back in 2022, it turned into Netflix’s most popular English-language TV series. The Al Gough and Miles Millar take on the old Addams Family series spent 20 weeks on the Global Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 93 countries with 252.10 million views. At the same time, it won 4 Primetime Emmys and had 20 wins and 59 nominations in total.
And it was not only the fact that it was based on an all-time soft horror favorite, but had a great plot, a stellar cast (Jenna Ortega, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, among others) and its first four episodes were directed by one of the masters of the other side of reality, Tim Burton, who is also the executive producer of the series.
So it was no surprise that Season 2 was in the making, and recently its release has been set to hit the screens this year (2025).
What can we expect from Wednesday Season 2?
If you go by the word of the series creators, Gough and Millar, Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) returns to Nevermore, that venerable school for outcasts, and her journey will be even darker and more complex with new mysteries she will have to resolve.
And as might be expected, there is an abundance of threats to Wednesday, her family, friends, and Nevermore school for Ortega’s character to handle, with no fewer mysteries to resolve along the way. As could be expected, both the producers, directors (Burton will be there again), and the cast are not telling us much, yet, with the now available trailer giving us just tidbits.
Who is in the new season cast?
Along with the stars like Ortega (will also produce this time around), Zeta-Jones and Guzmán, quite a few characters from Season 1 will be back - Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax) and Victor Dorobantu (Thing).
Also, Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams) and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago) have all become series regulars. Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) will also return in guest-starring roles.
There are some big names among new season regulars too, including the likes of Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.
And the guest stars list is no less stellar, Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor).
It seems more thrills, chills and mysteries are coming our way.
