We have bad news for Gossip Girl fans about the iconic show's future on Netflix

There's some bad news to share with fellow fans of the iconic The CW teen drama series, and you're going to like it less than Serena liked fighting with Blair (well, most of the time).

According to a report from What's on Netflix, Gossip Girl will be removed from Netflix in the United States before the end of 2026. The beloved teen drama has been a Netflix staple for a long time. Years ago, the show was available on the streamer before temporarily leaving and then later returning in 2024. Well, it's latest stay on Netflix appears to be ending very, very soon.

Gossip Girl reportedly set for Netflix removal in October 2026

All six seasons of Gossip Girl are expected to be removed from Netflix in the United States on Oct. 28, 2026 after spending two years on the streaming service. While there's always a chance that Netflix could renew its licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Television and keep the series for a bit longer, which has happened with shows in the past, its best to prepare for the show to leave this fall.

For now, a removal notice hasn't been added to the show's page on Netflix, mostly because as of this writing in June 2026, it's far too soon for the streamer to place that tag on a show's profile. We will know for certain whether Gossip Girl will actually be removal from Netflix about one month or so before the rumored removal date. The streamer always gives fans a head's up before pulling titles.

If Gossip Girl does get yanked from the platform, it's not out of the realm of possibility that it could return in the near to distant future. The series has been a consistent draw from the streamer, and that was proven by this current two-year period of availability on Netflix. Even nearly 20 years after its initial premiere on The CW, the show remains a rewatchable, timeless classic.

Thankfully, in the event of being removed from Netflix in October, we won't be without a streaming home for the series. As a show produced and distributed by Warner Bros., Gossip Girl is available to stream on HBO Max and will likely remain so for many years in the future, if not for the rest of time. But WBTV has the unique ability to license the show to other platforms to extend its legacy.

It's rare these days for shows to maintain longevity long after they have left the airwaves, but Gossip Girl ranks as one of the enduring hits from a time period that now feels too far away and nostalgic. HBO Max attempted to capitalize on the fans' love for the title with a short-lived reboot, but it's hard to recapture the specific magic that was made during this era of The CW.
