Are you ready for a new season of Queer Eye? The Emmy Award-winning reality series will be back with a brand new season this winter, less than one year after the release of season 8 in January 2024. The landmark ninth season marks the show's first major cast change, but that doesn't mean that the new Fab Five won't be having the time of their lives in the latest episodes!

On Oct. 25, Netflix officially announced that Queer Eye season 9 releases on Wednesday, Dec. 11 with eight episodes that are about 45 minutes each in length. This season, the group heads to Las Vegas, Nevada to bring their signature expertise to help spruce up the lives of a fresh crop of individuals. Who better to make sure Vegas sparkles than the Fab Five?

Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, and Tan France are all back for season 9, though Bobby Berk left the series after appearing in season 8. In season 9, he's replaced by interior designer Jeremiah Brent, who's perhaps best known for his television work alongside husband and fellow interior designer Nate Berkus. Welcome to Queer Eye, Jeremiah!

Queer Eye season 9 releases in December 2024

Back in November 2023, Netflix renewed Queer Eye for a ninth season ahead of the January 2024 launch of season 8 and following Berk's announced departure from the hit reality series. At the time of the renewal, there was no mention that it would be the final season, so there's no need to worry about the future of the show. While season 10 hasn't been confirmed, there's still gas in the tank.

With season 9 taking place in Las Vegas, the series has opened itself to a whole new colorful world of possibilities. Between a retired showgirl and a struggling librarian, the Fab Five are taking on Sin City in style in season 9 and offering their shine to those who could use a bit of it themselves. It's the perfect end of the year treat to dive into ahead of the holiday season rush and new year.

Get a closer look at what to expect from season 9 with Netflix's synopsis:

"Nine time's the charm! This season, Queer Eye brings its transformative magic to the iconic city of Las Vegas, where the Fab Five, now joined by interior designer Jeremiah Brent, meet a fresh group of individuals ready for a life-changing experience. From a former showgirl struggling to regain her confidence to a dedicated librarian in need of a change, watch as the Fab Five light up Sin City and transform the lives of their heroes in spectacular Vegas style."

While the exact reason for Berk's exit from Queer Eye before season 9 isn't concretely known, it's suspected that tension between him and his fellow castmates led the designer parting ways and doing his own thing. Berk addressed a situation that occurred between him and Tan France, though didn't elaborate further when announcing his departure, calling the decision difficult but "necessary."

But as the saying goes, the show must go on! Brent makes an excellent addition to the cast, and fans will surely still adore all eight new episodes of season 9 when they premiere on Dec. 11. Until the new season makes its arrival, it's never a bad idea to rewatch all of the past seasons and specials to prepare for all the fun and emotion soon to come!
