Virgin River star might have just spoiled the season 7 release date

After Stranger Things and Bridgerton, the next Netflix original series that fans are counting down the days until its return the most might be Virgin River. The romantic drama series last dropped a new season in December 2024, and while devoted fans have been keeping their fingers crossed that season 7 would arrive before the end of 2025, that's unfortunately not the case.

Despite the hopes that Virgin River season 7 would premiere this year, Netflix recently solidified the show's delay until 2026. That's a full calendar year without a new season, a first for the series since its premiere in 2019. However, hot on the heels of the latest bittersweet release update, we have another development straight from one of the stars, who essentially revealed the release date.

Ben Hollingsworth has been promoting his new movie Karen Kingsbury's The Christmas Ring, and during an appearance on Good Day New York, the actor seemingly confirmed Virgin River season 7's release month. As they introduced Hollingsworth, the anchors stated that the new season begins streaming on Netflix in March 2026. Notably, he didn't correct them!

"Season 7 starts in March," one of the anchors states, and while Hollingsworth could have clarified that a release month hasn't been revealed yet, he quickly responds to the statement with a simple and pointed "Yes!" Sure, that's not as soon as we would have wanted for the release date, but at least we now have a better idea of when to expect the new season to arrive.

Still, it's worth noting that it's not official until it comes directly from Netflix. Virgin River season 7 could very well have a March 2026 release date, but the season could also be coming sooner or even later. The streamer hasn't shared anything about the upcoming release except for the confirmation that it's in fact coming in 2026.

Honestly, March 2026 sounds like it's the perfect time for Netflix to release a new season of Virgin River. The streaming service already has the two-part release of Bridgerton season 4 scheduled for January and February among other new releases like Run Away and His & Hers. It wouldn't be the worst thing for Netflix to slip in season 7 between Bridgerton, but keeping it for March is smart.

The upcoming season has quite a few cliffhangers to resolve, including Mel and Jack's possible adoption, Charmaine's latest twist, and Brie's marriage proposal from Mike. As for Brady, Hollingsworth revealed that he will be "hunting down" his money that was stolen by Lark in the season 6 finale while also still pining and fighting for Brie, even after her proposal.

In addition to teasing the Virgin River season 7 release month, Hollingsworth also reacted to the season 8 renewal, which makes the romantic drama the longest-running Netflix original series. "That is still just hitting home for me. It's surreal. Netflix is the largest streaming platform in the world, and to be the longest-running show is such a blessing. I love my character." We love him, too!
