Virgin River season 7 release date announced with Mel and Jack first-look photo

Prepare to pack your bags and head back up north to Virgin River! We finally have some exciting news to share with fans regarding the Virgin River season 7 release date.

Netflix unveiled an exclusive preview of its upcoming original film and series slate for 2026, which included confirmations on what shows are coming this year and more than a few release date announcements. Thankfully, Virgin River was among the shows that received official release dates.

Mark your calendars: Virgin River season 7 premieres on Thursday, March 12, 2026. While fans surely hoped that new episodes would drop sooner (like in 2025 sooner), there's not much waiting left to go until Mel and Jack are back this spring. In fact, we already have a first look!

In addition to sharing the exciting release date news, Netflix also gifted fans with an exclusive first-look photo from Virgin River season 7. It's our very first glimpse of Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson back in action as Mel and Jack, but there's something curious about the photo.

Mel and Jack appear to be standing in front of a train of some sort. While the train behind them certainly takes much of the focus, there are also some interesting props behind them, like a glass bottle and what looks like a piece of wooden furniture painted green.

But what's more interesting at the first-look image is what — or rather whom — Mel and Jack are looking at. We only see the character from behind, but the newly married couple appear to be speaking with someone we haven't met. If we have met this character, we certainly don't recognize her. Could she have something to do with their possible adoption?

When we last left Mel and Jack last season, their wedding day was closely followed by a number of cliffhangers. Mel was approached by expectant mother Marley to adopt her baby when the previous parents fell through. Meanwhile, Jack happened upon a shocking scene at Charmaine's house, and the fate of her and the twins remains up in the air. Don't forget about Mike proposing to Brie!

Even though Netflix announced the Virgin River season 7 release date and shared a photo of Mel and Jack, there's still a fair amount left to learn about the upcoming episodes. We'll have to wait patiently for the season's synopsis and trailer, which will give fans a better idea of what to expect from season 7. For now, start counting down the days until new episodes arrive this spring.
