Tyler Perry is going to rule Netflix in 2025

It's not just Madea, either.

It is the year of Tyler Perry on Netflix. The person who writes, directs, produces, and stars in some of your favorite films and series' ever is about to bring viewers five films or series from his production company. In every one of them, except one, Perry will direct, write, and produce.

The amount of work that Perry can churn out is impressive. The fact that nearly everything he touches is of high quality is even more impressive. Plus, he isn't locked into only comedy or drama. He can do anything.

His work has only arguably gotten better, too. Last year, Netflix released his excellent The Six Triple Eight. His series, Zatima, is fantastic. Here are five other likely great things to watch from Perry on Netflix this year.

The year of Tyler Perry on Netflix is going to give us a lot of excellence

Beauty in Black season 1 part 2 (March 6)

Perry has always been good at writing for women, thankfully. Heck, he even wrote well as a woman he played (Madea). Hollywood needs more people like him. This series features two women whose lives become entangled, but one woman is succeeding in business while the other has recently been kicked out by her mouth. Sounds intriguing.

Straw (date of release to be determined)

The way this one reads makes it appear that it might have a good chance of winning some major awards next year. A single mother has something terrible happen and loses control of her life. She eventually becomes a person of interest in a world that does not care about her. One can just bet that Perry finds the soul of the film and delivers something quite beautiful.

R&B (date of release to be determined)

Unlike the other titles here, this one is not written/directed/produced by Tyler Perry. He only does the heavy lifting of producing a modern retelling of the Biblical story of Ruth and Boaz (hence the title, R&B). The film is directed by Alanna Brown and features several musicians, such as Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Jermaine Dupri, and Yung Joc.

She the People (date of release to be determined)

The plot of this one sounds like it might have been better suited for 2024, but any time we get a new Tyler Perry series, it's a good thing. The story surrounds a lieutenant governor candidate who apparently wins her campaign, but then has to work for a governor who is the opposite of what she is. In other words, the governor is not a good person, while Lieutenant Governor Antoinette Dunkerson is.

Madea's Destination Wedding (date of release to be determined)

You know the characters, and you love the Madea films Perry has created. Even in the silliness, he somehow finds the humanity as well. This adventure sees the characters of Brian and his ex-wife Debrah find out their daughter is newly engaged to someone she met on a yacht. Madea and the gang get together to go to the Bahamas, where the bride-to-be is (presumably), and hijinks ensue.
