Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Creator: Albert Kim
- Cast: Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Ken Leung, Daniel Dae Kim
- Seasons: 1 and a second season on the way
- Based on: Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko
Avatar: The Last Airbender is arguably the closest match tonally for One Piece fans. Both live-action series follow a young, idealistic hero on an epic quest filled with action, discovery, and personal growth. In Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang travels through diverse lands, mastering elemental powers while building strong bonds with his companions. This is a journey reminiscent of Luffy and his Straw Hat crew exploring the Grand Line and forming friendships with each unique character they meet.
The series begins with Aang, the last surviving Airbender, awakening after being frozen in an iceberg for a century. He discovers that the world he once knew is now engulfed in a brutal war waged by the Fire Nation, which has conquered and oppressed the other nations during his absence. With his homeland gone and a destiny thrust upon him, Aang must accept his role as the only person capable of mastering all four elements and restoring balance to the world.

Stranger Things
- Creator: The Duffer Brothers
- Cast: Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink
- Seasons: 5
There's no denying that Stranger Things is one of Netflix's standout shows. While it’s not exactly like One Piece, it embodies many of the qualities that make the live-action pirate series so addictive. That's friendship, adventure, teamwork, and facing impossible odds. For fans of Luffy and the Straw Hat crew, Stranger Things offers a thrilling, emotional, and highly bingeable experience that’s hard to put down.
The story kicks off with a quiet town hiding dark secrets. When Will Byers mysteriously vanishes, what should have been a simple missing-person case turns into a sprawling mystery that shakes Hawkins, Indiana, to its core. Will’s friends refuse to sit idle. They know their friend is out there somewhere, and they will do anything to bring him home.
Along the way, they stumble upon Eleven, a mysterious girl with extraordinary psychic and telekinetic powers. She becomes the key to uncovering the horrors lurking just beyond their reality. And soon, the kids realize that the world they thought they knew is only a fraction of what’s really out there.

The Umbrella Academy
- Creator: Steve Blackman
- Cast: Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher
- Seasons: 4
- Based on: The Umbrella Academy comics by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá
The Umbrella Academy will appeal to One Piece viewers because of its combination of action-packed adventures and its focus on a diverse ensemble cast, each with unique abilities. The Hargreeves siblings’ quirky personalities and complicated relationships mirror the dynamics of the Straw Hat crew, where distinct traits and powers contribute to the team’s success.
The Umbrella Academy opens with a mysterious cosmic event. On Oct.1, 1989, 43 women around the world inexplicably give birth at the exact same moment without ever showing signs of pregnancy. Seven of these extraordinary children end up adopted by the wealthy and enigmatic Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who raises them to become a superhero team called The Umbrella Academy.
But due to Hargreeve's cruel parenting, the siblings grow up emotionally distant and estranged from one another. Years later, the estranged siblings reunite after their father’s death, only to discover a looming apocalypse that threatens the world.
Don't forget! You can stream all three of these amazing shows on Netflix right now.
